I'm Emily- the Founder & Author of The Bookmark- and it's my dream that this blog becomes the perfect collection of tools, tips, tricks, and resources to support you along your writing journey.

As a writer myself, I completely understand how difficult and overwhelming it can be to know where to start, how to target and grow the right skills, understand the publishing industry, and stay confident in your goals all along the way. It's been my mission over the last several years to discover this information for myself to make myself the strongest writer I can be while discovering my place within this industry. But why keep my discoveries to myself, when I can create grow a passionate community of learning with these discoveries and tips?

No matter your writing goals, I'll do the research to provide you with the very best insights to support your journey as writer. All you have to do is sit back and read - which, for most of us, is already our favorite way to spend our free time!

So, what makes me the right person for you to trust?

Those that know me are well aware that I ask too many questions. I want to know The WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and WHY about anything I am curious about. Growing extensively as a writer over the last several years, I have searched high and low for the answers to my own burning questions- and I'd be willing to bet many of these questions are shared among other writers looking to grow their skills, learn the industry, reach an audience, and resonate with readers.

My passion for creativity and storytelling led me to study marketing and writing at a top-ranking university as well as participate in a handful of internships that granted me hands-on access to a diverse collection of writing-related industries. After graduating, I took on a job in communications for an industry-leading fashion company, where I formulate operational information to communicate brand story and inspire mass action. Throughout my journey as a writer and creator, my curiosity has submerged me in research, experiences, courses, networks, and opportunities to develop my understanding of the world of writing:

Attended seminars from leading writing professionals (publishers, book coaches, and agents)
Taken professional courses on a plethora of critical writing-related subjects
Discovered & applied concepts from industry-supported podcasts to provide well-rounded support on writing topics (developing a story from concept to completion, finding an agent, building an author platform & connecting with audiences, industry insights, tips from publishers, writing services, and more)
Hands-on experience in publishing, advertising, journalism, entrepreneurship, social media, brand storytelling, and diverse writing types

Though these experiences have been helpful for me, it is my goal to pass all helpful tips and tools over by creating the best platform possible in support of other hard-working writers seeking their own paths in the writing world.
